A “GlosCAN CEE Bill Advocacy Group” (working title) is being formed to support people in Gloucestershire to advocate for the ‘Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill’ (‘CEE Bill’; formally titled the Climate and Ecology Bill), especially by engaging in a non-partisan and constructive way with local MPs. Two formation meetings (involving nine people in all) have already taken place by Zoom, and the next is to be on Friday 25th June, 4:00 to 5:00 pm. If you would like to attend the next meeting or otherwise get involved, please contact info@gloscan.org.
The size, form and purposes of the group are still being worked out, and they may well continue to evolve. Potential purposes range from supporting and sharing experience between individuals who are engaging with their MPs, local councillors, academics or other public figures, to perhaps planning more structured campaigns and events, especially in the lead-up to COP26. If you are not familiar with the aims of the CEE Bill, there are extensive resources on the CEE Bill Alliance website, for example a 2-minute explainer video and Caroline Lucas MP sharing tips on engaging with MPs and a complete campaign guide.
